Mr. Glen Bowdin, a keynote speaker at HTMi’s 13th International Hospitality & Tourism Research Conference Switzerland gave an interesting address on the topic “Developing the Event Professional” to an audience of international research professionals and researchers, as well as the staff and students of HTMi.
The presentation content has been dedicated to the process of development of the Events professionals. Taking as an example the case of Great Britain Mr. Bowdin outlined the necessity of providing special education for those who would like to devote their professional life to the Meetings and Events organization.
The thirteenth International Hospitality and Tourism Research Conference Switzerland was held over a two-day period in November 2014.
The conference had two main themes – ‘The Challenges of Changing Products and Changing Patterns of Demand for Hospitality, Tourism and Events’ AND ‘Learners, Industry and Educational Institutions: Together Preparing for Futures in Hospitality and Tourism’.
Katrin Melle is Director of Human Resources Europe, Africa, Middle East for Hyatt Hotels and is based in Zürich, Switzerland. Before moving into her current position, Katrin Melle was Area Director of Human Resources for Hyatt in Central Europe, based at the Hyatt Regency Mainz, Germany. She has been with Hyatt since 1989 in several positions in Rooms, Training and Human Resources.
HTMi hosted the International Gala Event, organized by its Higher Diploma Management students, which took place on Friday, the 21st November 2014.
The event involved numerous performances and showcased the exceptionally high standards of the HTMi students, that we are sure will remain in the memory of our guests for a very long time. The whole evening was organized around the elegant “1001 Nights” theme.
Chef Andreas Kurfürst and his team of culinary chefs and the students of the baking & pastry course for their outstanding performance in creating the food menu and the crème a la crème, a dessert buffet of Arabian Art that left the guests breathless.
2014 Armada Cup, organizer of the event were exceptionally delighted and amazed with the high levels of professionalism, quality, training, teamwork and level of discipline displayed by the HTMi team. At the end of the event, one of the main organisers, Ms. Angie Furrer, told the group “we would like to have HTMi back next year as everyone enjoys the HTMi students and having them around”.
